The flow of breath in your body offers a healing and life-giving presence. Breath is the primordial foundation of the human spirit. Your breath carries oxygen into your body and your voice into the world. Research has demonstrated that conscious breathing is an important component of healing trauma. And just as ancient mariners learned to navigate the sea’s unpredictable currents and storms by working with the wind, you can learn to use your breath to navigate trauma’s inner storms and currents.

Conscious breathing is a key for healing and energizing your body and mind. The depth of your breath should be enough to invigorate and enliven you. Too much breath, and you become lightheaded; too little, and you become sluggish and dull. Yogis believe that specific breathing techniques infuse the body with prana—life force. Certain breathing techniques can deepen self-awareness and self-knowledge as they allow your life force to flow more freely, clearing blockages that obscure your essential nature. I offer assistance to anyone who wants to feel increased capacity for connection, aliveness, and vibrancy in their lives.

Many of us labor under a misconception of ourselves and the world as divided; we fail to see and experience our natural wholeness. This creates a sense of separation and deep enduring pain. As you learn to perceive through a larger lens, which healing trauma brings, and embrace your body and senses as an integral part of your human experience, this misconception, this confusion, dissolves. We organically reinhabit the body as we renegotiate trauma and adversity, the heart breaks open to reveal love and spontaneous action of being, and the mind is experienced in a vastly different way.

As the web of survival strategies or defenses from trauma diminishes, you restore your connection to and expression of your essential and authentic self. This opens you to a deeper spiritual reality and/or perspective of self, others, the world, and, if you like, the cosmos.

About Trauma

Dr Julie

I have a 30 year background in psychological, somatic and spiritual traditions.

I hold a Ph.D. in somatic depth psychology, and master’s degrees in both spiritual psychology and depth psychology. I am a certified master NARM practitioner, and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner as well as being an authorized teacher of the lineage teachings of Shri Vidya.

I bring the power and wisdom of these teachings to help dissolve and diminish the wounding's of developmental trauma. The therapeutic process to resolve trauma will assist you in changing unhealthy patterns, beliefs, and defenses embedded in your body and mind.
